BIOGRAPHY
E.A Tofte (1982) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice bridges fine art, writing, and textiles. Born in Estonia, her creative journey began at the age of nine at Tallinna Kunstikool and continued through Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium and Kopli Kunstikeskkool. Alongside her visual art education, she cultivated a deep love for literature, completing her studies in a literature-focused program.
Financial limitations redirected her path from formal art education to tailoring, leading to the launch of a fashion business. Living two decades abroad, she studied Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion, eventually transitioning to Journalism while working in the fashion industry and exploring the global supply chain.
Following the 2008 financial crisis, she returned to her roots in fine art, studying at
Kensington and Chelsea College before relocating to the Cayman Islands. She is currently completing her Fine Art degree through the Open College of the Arts.
Her work is deeply informed by the natural world, often incorporating found objects into sculptures and paintings. The intersection of writing and visual art is a recurring theme in her practice. Her solo exhibition Transient, held in her home, marked a significant evolution in her installation work.
She actively participates in collaborative projects, including an upcoming exhibition
celebrating her village’s 735th anniversary and a group show during London Frieze Week.
Now based between Estonia and the Cayman Islands, her work reflects a rich cultural dialogue and a personal narrative that resonates universally.
